Mr Sean O. Ferguson is a global higher education executive with a diverse combination of professional experiences. Currently, Mr. Ferguson is the Associate Dean of Masters Programs and Director of MBA Programs at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s (HKUST) School of Business and Management. In this capacity, he is responsible for leading the MBA programs and providing oversight for the school’s various master degree programs.
Under Ferguson’s leadership, HKUST became the first Asian MBA Program, to be ranked in the four major international rankings publications: The Financial Times, The Econnomist, BusinessWeek, and Forbes. HKUST is the only Asian School to accomplish this for three consecutive years. Ferguson has launched many new initiatives that have increased enrollment, improved career outcomes, and further internationalized the HKUST MBA Programs.
In 2012, Mr Ferguson was elected to the board of the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC) and currently serves on the Audit and Membership Committees. In 2015, Mr. Ferguson joined Executive Board of CEMS, a consortium of leading European business schools, and currently serves on the Marketing Committee.
Prior to joining HKUST in 2013, Mr Ferguson was the Assistant Dean of Degree Programs at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business (JGSB). Before moving to the higher education industry, Mr Ferguson had a distinguished in corporate career working at PROS, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGE&Y), and Procter & Gamble (P&G).
Mr Ferguson received his Bachelor of Science in engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a Master of Business Administration from Rice University.
