Seth Peterson is a partner in the Industrial Practice in Heidrick & Struggles’ Hong Kong office, serving manufacturing and energy businesses in the region across the C-Suite and main functions. He leads the firm’s Electrical specialty practice in the region, and is also a member of the firm’s Supply Chain and Transportation & Logistics Practices. He works for both Private Equity portfolio businesses and Chinese enterprises as well.

Seth is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, and has spent most of his career in strategic planning, business development, and general management with multinational manufacturing businesses in the region.

Immediately prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Seth worked as an Independent Consultant advising Private Equity clients on their China investments.

Prior to that he was Vice President, General Manager, in charge of Asia Operations for the Floor Care and Appliances Business Unit of Hong Kong-listed Techtronic Industries. In that role he led a number of significant changes, including the restructuring of the China Manufacturing, Product Development, and Procurement Operations in South China, integration of a major acquisition, consolidation of finished goods sourcing in East China, and growth of the Private Label customer base.

From 1996 to 2005, Seth worked for Emerson Electric, where he held several Business Development and P&L responsibilities for component Solution businesses where he led strategic planning as well as execution of direct and indirect channel and key account strategies to serve OEM customers across Asia Pacific. He also served as a corporate planner at the U.S. headquarters for two years.

He began his career in Hong Kong and Shanghai in the early 1990s as a Management Consultant where he was involved in the development of China market strategies for a number of leading manufacturers.

Seth earned an MBA from Washington University’s Olin School of Business in St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in Chinese Studies and International Relations from Grinnell College, Iowa. He studied Chinese in Taiwan as well. Co-Chair the board of AFS Hong Kong and serves on the board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
