Richard Weisman advises on international tax matters with a focus on Asia and the U.S. He advises corporations, financial institutions and high net worth individuals on international tax planning, compliance, and dispute resolution. He has also advised governments and industry groups on tax policy matters. His practice includes advising publicly listed and privately held companies on international tax matters, including foreign direct foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, transfer pricing, permanent establishment concerns, tax treaty issues, and dispute resolution.
Mr. Weisman served as Head of Baker & McKenzie’s Global Tax Practice Group from 2009-2012. Mr. Weisman previously served for five years on Baker & McKenzie’s global Executive Committee. While a member of the Executive Committee, Mr. Weisman had overall responsibility with respect to the firm’s Asia Pacific Region, Financial Committee, and Global Tax Practice Group.
Mr. Weisman has been based principally in the Hong Kong office of Baker & McKenzie since 1988. He has also worked in the Firm’s offices in New York and Singapore.
