Invest in USA 2015 Edition
Remarks by the 44th President Barack Obama at the Select USA Investment Summit
“Remarks by President Barack Obama at the Select USA Investment Summit Over the past six years, we’ve worked hard to make America a smarter place to invest and to do business than any other country in the world. Our unemployment rate has fallen from a peak of 10 percent in 2009 to 5.5 percent. I announced nearly $500 million in new public and private investment in strengthening American manufacturing. I want to make it easier for our international partners to find the best opportunities. And that’s one reason I created SelectUSA, the first-ever government-wide initiative to encourage more companies from around the world to invest and create jobs right here in the United States.

Foreign Direct Investment in the United States
The United States is known as a nation of immigrants,
and one could also say that we are a nation of foreign
investment. The country has a long tradition of warmly
welcoming foreign direct investment (FDI), and this was
made clear at the highest level as early as 1983 when
President Ronald Reagan issued a “Statement on
International Investment Policy.” Since then, every US
President has echoed this commitment to policies that
welcome FDI.
