Bryan Ha
Head of Public Policy, Hong Kong
Bryan Ha leads the public policy work of AWS in Hong Kong, with overall responsibility for policy, regulatory and government relations matters in Hong Kong. Since 2019, AWS operates a Region in Hong Kong, one of the 34 Regions in the world, providing cloud infrastructure and services to different industries in Hong Kong.
Since early 2024, Bryan serves as a Co-Chair of AmCham’s I&T Committee. He is also a Member of the Innovation, Data & Communication Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and a Member of the Hong Kong Computer Society.
Before joining AWS in December 2022, Bryan had served in the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for 18 years. From early 2019 to mid-2022, he was the Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Washington D.C.
From late 2015 to early 2019, he served as the Assistant Commissioner for Innovation and Technology responsible for overseeing the Innovation and Technology Fund, the Productivity Council and the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel. During the period, he launched/enhanced various funding schemes to support R&D and technology adoption, including the Technology Voucher Programme.
Following a two-month Executive Seminar for Diplomats from Asia and the Pacific hosted by the German Foreign Office, Bryan served as the Deputy Director of HKETO in Berlin from late 2010 to early 2014, responsible for fostering government relations between Hong Kong and eight central and eastern European countries. In his government career, Bryan also served in the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, Labour and Welfare Bureau, Education Bureau, and Home Affairs Department, formulating and implementing policies relating to public finance, social welfare, vocational education, and district administration.
Bryan studied and worked in the UK and Germany from 1995 to 2004. He holds a Master of Engineering in Computing (first class) from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, and worked as a software consultant/engineer at Deutsche Börse and Nortel Networks.
