Notice of New Chairman & Vice Chairman

The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (AmCham) welcomes Jessica Bartlett as new Chairwoman and Joseph Armas as new Vice Chairman of its Board of Governors. The new leadership will take effect on January 1, 2021.

Jessica Bartlett is Director, Financial Crime Legal – APAC at Barclays. Bartlett advises compliance and legal teams, business lines and senior management across the APAC region on financial crime issues including economic sanctions, export controls, anti-money laundering, fraud, and anti-corruption. Bartlett relocated from New York to Hong Kong in 2015 and prior to joining Barclays in 2018, she worked with Shearman & Sterling LLP and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Bartlett clerked for the Honorable Sidney H. Stein, District Judge for the Southern District of New York. Bartlett holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois, Master of Arts in Philosophy from Brandeis University, and two Bachelors of Arts degrees in Art History and Political Science from Southern Methodist University.

Joseph Armas is the Managing Director for Otis Elevator in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan area with full general management responsibility. With over 20 years of leadership experience including six years as an officer in the United States Army, Armas is a veteran of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After leaving the service, he began his career with Otis in 2004 as a field manager in the US and subsequently held roles of increasing responsibilities in maintenance service, construction & modernization, product management, and general management. Most recently, he led the Northern California business as Senior Director and Regional General Manager before coming to Hong Kong in 2019. Armas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from the University of Washington, Master of Business Administration from Purdue University and Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.

2019 & 2020 Chairman Mr. Robert Grieves, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Hamilton Advisors Limited, will continue to serve as the Chairman of the AmCham Charitable Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Chamber.
